Confidential information does not only exist on paper. Hard drives, laptops, phones and removable media can retain personal or commercially sensitive data long after the files appear to have been deleted.

Why deletion is not enough

Wiping a drive or reinstalling an operating system may leave recoverable data behind. Physical damage carried out without the right process can also leave components readable. Secure destruction is designed to make the storage media unusable.

Describe the devices before booking

A loose hard drive and a complete computer are not the same item for handling purposes. Include the equipment type, quantities and whether storage media are still fitted inside the devices. Do not place batteries or equipment into paper-shredding bags; discuss their acceptance and packaging separately with the team.

Records and certification

If your organisation needs particular asset references recorded, explain this before requesting a quotation so the team can confirm what is available.
